Medium Voltage Components: Product Families
Medium-voltage equipment operates above 1 kV, and most plant and distribution work sits between 2.4 and 38 kV. This group covers three component types. Vacuum circuit breakers interrupt current inside sealed vacuum bottles and are fitted to switchgear as drawout or fixed elements. Load interrupter switches open and close load current but are not meant to clear a fault, so they are usually paired with fuses. Power fuses protect transformers, capacitor banks and cables by clearing faults.
Each is described by rated voltage class, continuous current and interrupting rating, and the mounting or mechanism style has to match the lineup. Buyers therefore ask for the breaker or fuse series along with its ratings.
