Bus Duct & Busway: Product Families
Bus duct, also called busway, carries heavy current through a building in enclosed copper or aluminum bars instead of cable. Feeder runs move power from a transformer or main switchboard to distribution equipment. Plug-in runs have openings along their length where fused or breaker tap-off units connect. Switchboard stub sections join a run to the switchboard it serves.
The ratings that decide a match are continuous current, voltage class, short-circuit withstand, conductor material and housing construction. Sections and fittings are usually specific to one manufacturer series, so buyers of surplus or replacement sections normally ask for the series name and rating first.
